The largest passenger aircraft in the world is the Airbus A380. It is has a double-decked wide body with four engines. The Airbus A380 is manufactured by the European corporation Airbus which is a subsidiary of EADS. Because of its massive size, many airports have to modify their facilities just to accommodate the Airbus 380. It has made its first maiden flight on April 27, 2005 as an attempt to rival the monopoly of Boeing in manufacturing large aircrafts. The Airbus A380 is larger than the Boeing 747 by 49 percent.
